‘Art in Showroom’ and Flou
The project ‘Art in the Showroom’ developed from idea of offering an educated, sensitive public a series of original works of art, produced exclusively for Flou by a number of contemporary artists. Sleeping well, the basic philosophy of Flou’s operations, joins perfectly with the attractiveness, the elegance and the spirituality expressed by a work of art. This genial idea was to display Prints of the original artwork in unusual places such as furniture stores to satisfy a dual objective: on the one hand promote art through channels that are different the traditional venues, on the other our retailers new opportunities to attract the public. On the photo: ‘A tribute to Magritte’ by Alfonso Borghi. Inspired by the ‘Key of Dreams’ painted in 1937 by Matisse, this painting is split into four sections containing articles and captions in English: a horse’s head and the writing ‘the door’; a clock and the words ‘the wind’; a carafe joins the words the bird’; the suitcase and its French name ‘the valise’. Door, wind, bird, suitcase with these word Borghi wished to reinterpret the titles that appear in the four sections of the masterpiece by Magritte, to prove that no object is inextricably associated with its name, and that there is nothing to prevent them being renamed.
