Friendly seating
The new Meritalia showroom opened last April 16th in Via Durini, Milan. This display area of approx 1300 sq.m. was designed by the architect Mario Bellini and involves a series of interconnecting spaces. A manufacturer of upholstered furniture (primarily sofas and armchairs) since 1987, Meritalia respects the highest quality standards by choice of its founder, Giulio Meroni: the creativity of great designers is paired with the techniques, know-how, skill and experience accrued in 40 years’ activity in this sector. The new ideas presented by Meritalia at its new showroom and at the Milan Furniture Fair (22-27 April ’09) include many new collections of exclusive products specially created by well-known designers. The image features the appealing collection ‘Gli Amici’ (‘friends’): sofas and seating created by the designer Gaetano Pesce. Pesce is inspired by the natural world and by his love of animals. The designer himself explained: “I’ve always loved animals, even those not generally appreciated. Their diverse characteristics and languages have always led me to reflect and need to understand. Recollections of my childhood dreams also belong to this realm: I would come up to their knees, and their over-large scale would make me see them as gentle and friendly.”
