Rubelli/Gallery

Gallery Vetri d’Arte is a label that has been a point of reference in the lighting world for some years now. The name stands for innovation applied to the aesthetic values of the past, without ever compromising on technical competence. And only just recently Gallery Vetri d’Arte teamed up with Rubelli to create ‘Damasco’ and ‘Alexandria’ – two splendid new lights. The image presents ‘Damasco’ (design by Marina Toscano): a refined crystal-enhanced brocatelle. Dangling asymmetric lines of crystal drops hang from the large cylinder of luxurious textile featuring a stylish brown and gold pattern. The shade is made with the prized ‘Faust’ textile by Rubelli: a brocatelle whose design of acanthus leaves and stylised geometrics explores the ambiguity between form and ground and the contrast between the glossy and compact surfaces of warp and weft weaves. The ‘Damasco’ light comes in a hanging or free-standing version; in the latter it is exalted with a metal base decorated with precious gold leaf.
