All the Abitare Il Tempo 2009 new ideas

The 24th edition of Abitare il Tempo – the show gravitating around living, architecture, design and hand-crafted items – is to be held in Verona from 17th to 21st September. The fair has gone in for a new look for this 2009 edition. There is in fact a new slant to the interior scheme: sober, comfortable and practical fixtures have been conceived for the halls, which offer a variety of stand type. Another new introduction is the 15,000sq.m. exterior project (by Frassinago Lab) focusing on outdoor furnishings. The area will be located in the fair’s square and will feature the products put forward by the best sector companies, thus creating a small but homogeneous show-within-a-show. More than at any other edition, Abitare il Tempo 2009 will be offering an authentic merger between art and design. Indeed, parallel to this fair, the Verona exhibition complex will be playing host to the 5th edition of ArtVerona: the event featuring 170 of Italy’s internationally prominent modern and contemporary art galleries. This means Abitare il Tempo ticket-holders will be given free access to ArtVerona, and vice versa, by passing through hall 9, which becomes the meeting point between art and design. The route will be clearly marked out by the 16 ‘Beautiful by Day, Beautiful by Night’ ceramic totem structures by Linde Burkhardt. As of this year, internationally renowned designers will be invited as special guests to narrate exemplary experiences of Italian excellence in the contract world. The first two are Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas, who are the subject of a special installation where their video-contribution may also be viewed. As is now customary, the Verona fair shall also be the stage to prominent exhibitions, workshops and research events enabling visitors to go into topics and themes related to the past, the present and the future prospects of decor, design and architecture. The full programme to the fair – gradually being consolidated, as is the list of exhibitors and secondary event participants – may be consulted at the website www.abitareiltempo.com.
