Eco-compatible slumber

Gabel and Plinio il Giovane have created ‘Org’: the brand new entirely eco-compatible sleep system, available at select home linens stores starting this June. ‘Org’ comprises an all-wood bed, a mattress and a collection of bed sheets, duvet covers, bed covers and throws. The Gabel group and Plinio il Giovane – two very different entities – have decided to team up in eco-sustainability for the production of textile collections and furniture and home accessories. Designed by Mario Prandina, the ‘Org’ bed has been conceived to foster vital energy and to avoid static electricity, meaning it is 100% hand-made. It features an outer layer of wool paired with a thicker natural rubber one, treated using a special technique to make it flexible and breathable. The quality of the lanolin and its therapeutic properties are the forte of this mattress. In addition, the ‘Org’ bedding collection offers a broad range of bed sheets, bed covers, blankets, duvet covers and throws: all are made using natural textiles such as organic cotton that has been grown, processed, woven and finished following strict rules not admitting the use of chemical products and polluting agents. The entire production process gravitates around guidelines safeguarding the environment: this starts with energy drawn from the hydroelectric plant on the Isonzo river to power the Gabel production premises, and ranges through to the packaging created with recycled and recyclable materials. The textiles used are soft, the colours chosen more natural and patterns are also subtle. All product aspects echo the beauty of nature, the charm of simplicity and harmony. The entire ‘Org’ collection is guaranteed by the GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) international certification.
