Milano Unica
The 10th Milano Unica (Milan, 15-18 February 2010), the Italian Textile Exhibition promoted and organised by the most important ‘Made in Italy’ textile showcases (Ideacomo, Ideabiella, Moda In and Shirt Avenue), closed on a promising note for Italian and European exhibitors. The three-day event was attended by 12,500 companies: the similarity to the February 2009 figures confirms the halt in the negative trend. This 10th edition, which saw presentation of the Spring/Summer 2011 textile collections, could once again rely on the support provided by ICE, the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade. Pier Luigi Loro Piana, President of Milano Unica and Ideabiella, commented: “The attendance figures and orders registered at the fair are significant indicators for the Italian and European quality textile industry. There was a noticeable return of buyers, particularly from North Europe. The much-appreciated accompanying events we organised – such as the evening at the La Scala theatre – also contribute to making our exhibition a truly unique date. We now hope the government will fully understand the fair’s strategic importance for our sector and approve the necessary funding as soon as possible.” This opinion is shared by Silvio Albini (President of Shirt Avenue), Alberto Jelmini (President of Moda In) and Beppe Pisani (President of Ideacomo). Massimo Mosiello, Managing Director to Milano Unica, added: “It was also a positive edition in organisational terms. The support events we provided to make our service unique and to best contextualise textiles/accessories production in a friendly and stimulating environment all met with great approval. The success of this recent edition takes us to look to the future with greater certainty and this encourages us to always strive to improve on previous editions. The Fieramilanocity trade centre will again play host to the 11th edition of Milano Unica, from 8th to 10th September 2010, where the Autumn 2011/Winter 2012 collections will be presented.”
